This week's events at Uhtend!
7th April to 13th April 2025 - events in Mumbai
Events by Uhtend this week!
Hello folks, another week, another set of events to choose from!
Last week’s highlights:
Hosted two pickleball meeetups, a power walk session and a Beyblade tournament!
We are now at EIGHT paying subscribers — 392 more and we achieve a goal of ours.
Perks awarded to Uhtend Pass holders in the form of physical gifts + vouchers!
Here’s what’s upcoming.
Wednesday morning pickleball meetup.
One hour game at court 2 with up to 3 teams.
Limited to 6 spots, happening from 7 to 8 AM.
Beginner and newbie friendly.
Paddles provided; just wear comfy clothes + sports shoes.
Power walk session at Azad Nagar.
Power walk for one hour with us followed by 30-60 minutes of jogging.
Burn calories, have conversations and make new friends.
Follow the lead’s pace or walk at your own; no pressure!
Can do snacks + refreshments post walk.
Events we intend on hosting.
We want to do another footy meetup at St Mary’s Versova or Neville Bandra (5v5); open to full or partial sponsorship! Reply to this email if interested.
The pickleball meetup on Sunday will be dependent on slot availability; expect another email based on confirmation. Should be two hours with 8-10 slots.
Commonly asked questions for Uhtend
Making a list of commonly asked questions for Uhtend and answering them one by one.
UPI AutoPay for subscriptions?
Currently we use Gumroad, RazorPay and Dodo Payments for collecting subscriptions.
Out of these only RazorPay has the UPI AutoPay feature that lets you manage subscriptions automatically. It will take 15-30 days to get confirmation.
If this doesn’t get approved we are happy to create a single payment link for ₹199 (monthly) and ₹1999 (yearly) with manual reminders.
Why only Andheri at the moment?
We choose most events carefully near train or metro stations for ease of accessibility.
Andheri becomes a good middle ground between Bandra and Borivali. We want to expand towards Dadar and SoBo, as well as Borivali but are unaware how many of our subscribers are based there.
We will hopefully get there soon; thank you for being patient with us.
What type of events to expect?
Currently we are focusing on interpersonal events.
What’s that: basically events where everyone gets to get involved.
As a kid I used to be quite introverted, sit in corners at events, talk to no one and head home because I used to be nervous.
Pokemon Go changed that for me since it was something I was passionate about + had to talk to people for progress in-game.
This sort of approach is what I feel makes for better connections especially when we are at a small stage.
To sum it up, here are the type of events we want to do:
Sports meets — play, exercise, have fun.
Fan communities — indulge in your lore.
Discussions — come, talk and be heard.
Workshops — activities to level up or learn.
Over time we do hope to do more events for the same monthly sub which adds more value while also working with brands to provide discounts + offers.
For example, we gave Uhtend Pass holders a voucher of ₹300 last week which basically covers their monthly cost.
Web app when?
We want to create a web app at perhaps 100 paying subscribers or 2500 newsletter members.
This would allow us to save money and invest more of it into events we do.
Open to investors if we have the right offer.
Ratio of attendees
We admit that our fan communities are mostly centred around male oriented interests and we want to have a healthy ratio.
Our events are of course open for all but we are open to event ideas that are more inclusive.
You can drop a text on +91 9833526732 (Anthony) if there’s something on your mind; always open to ideas, feedback and criticism.

Notes and observations
I get asked if an event company or being an event organiser is the safe path with respect to AI.
Tunnel vision answer: yes, absolutely. AI cannot host in-person events.
The wider perspective: it depends on the rate of evolution. You may not compete with AI tools directly but your users are still in constant touch with algorithms that hook them in and affect their moods — it is easy to convince someone not to go out and attend events with carefully curated feeds.
Your events need to suit one genre where people keep coming back or different experiences that keep people on their toes.
PS — I love using em dashes, don’t mistake them for AI generated slop.
Are we in a loneliness epidemic?
I would not say it’s an epidemic in Mumbai at least. You can meet new people frequently.
Here’s where we struggle:
Starting a conversation — anxiety, fear of being embarrassed, etc means we never start a conversation.
Forming meaningful bonds — not everything has to be to-die-for friendship; but coming across new folks and wanting the best for them is a nice gesture.
Socialising for profit — meeting new people because you want to pitch to them doesn’t work out well unless they are really interested.
The 1/24 frame rule — a second of film has 24 frames; we see one frame of a person and base their entire personality off of it. It is crucial to understand people have various interests and lead different lifestyles and socioeconomic circles.
Anyway, enough of event philosophy and forcing AI into every conversation.
Hope to see you at an event soon!
