The week that was at Uhtend
Here’s an update on how we fared last week!
Mid-week pickleball
We had some stress hosting last week’s mid-week pickleball meetup:
We booked our court online and were informed later about the slot not being available; had to move to Celebrations Lokhandwala.
Due to last minute cancellations, no-shows and traffic we had only 4/6 participants for our the meetup; helped us play doubles but could have been worse.
Power walk session
Anthony led the power walk session at Versova Beach last Saturday, 29th March.
One hour of power walking with a bit of time taken out for taking photos and videos.
We love the hustle at Versova; they were renting mats and bean bags for ₹59 per hour. Saw someone work on their laptop close to the waves, pretty bold move!
Sunday PBM!

Thank you for turning up!
We booked a court at ASC for pickleball and played for two hours!
This time we had 7/8 participants and could play doubles with different partners.
We capped games at 5 points each and max two games per team, which allowed quick games for all involved.
Moving to the Uhtend Pass!

Uhtend Pass vs Uhtend Lite
The Uhtend Pass is our monthly subscription that lets you attend ALL of our events. It starts at ₹199 per month (or ₹1999 yearly).
Uhtend Lite is a tier below Uhtend Pass where you are added after you sign up to our event or newsletter.
Key differences
Priority access — Uhtend Pass holders get priority access and approval to all of our events. Uhtend Lite users are approved 24 hours after Uhtend Pass holders are notified of a new event.

Founder’s notes
It’s quite corny to use the word founder these days so if you have any other suggestions we are up for it!
Here are some of our key notes, observations and thoughts from running Uhtend so far.
Subscription skepticism
In India, not everyone is a fan of subscriptions. More so for something that requires active involvement like events.
We are always collecting user feedback to make this process simpler and easier to understand.
Currently, being at an early stage means we require to make the best out of what we have & there’s always fears around the hits and misses when it comes to providing event experiences in Mumbai.
Traffic remains a problem
Mumbai always has problems with traffic; the woes for event-goers are amplified when the events are held at a time where peak congestion is inevitable.
We use Luma so that users can add the event to the calendar though “Travel Time“ is a feature we cannot enable ourselves — it’s helpful in getting alerts on when to leave from your current location, be it work, office or your favourite ₹20 ganne ka juice stand.
Dealing with no-shows
If it’s a free event people tend to sign up but don’t show up.
Luma allows you to cancel your ticket and mark yourself as “Not going.“
We recommend doing this three hours before the event so someone else can take that place.
In most cases, folks can’t control their schedules, meetings, traffic, etc so we are not banning anyone. But if someone signs up more than 3 times and does not show up we are likely to not approve the next request if someone else with better consistency wants to join in too.
Looking for sponsors as usual!
Right now we pay from our own pockets to host these events.
We are open to sponsors for our events:
Sports: pickleball, football, power walk, runs.
Fan meetups: Beyblade, Pokemon, TV shows.
Gatherings: discussions, book reading, cafe hopping, etc.
If you’d love to power the next event, feel free to setup a call with Anthony.
Ooof! That’s about it. This has been our wordiest newsletter so far.
Thank you for your patience! We will be back with more event updates!
